Alliums

It’s no surprise that I LOVE flowers.

Like really, really love them but not the best at styling or arranging them…at least not yet heehee. I have been practicing and sharing my floral fascinations with friends and loved ones alike, and I wanted to virtually share about my absolute favorite stem of all…ALLIUMS, a.k.a. Onion Flower (they only start to smell onion-y when they get a bit old I think).

It’s not very often I run across these blooms, so whenever I do, I snag a few for sure. These amazing purple Alliums I found at a local shop were so ginormous, they were almost as tall as I am (I am a whopping 5 feet standing as tall possible!).

Again, not a floral designer by any means, but I used these bulbs to make some arrangements for many of the special moms in my life for Mother’s Day last year.

Pomps got a nice sniff before I cut them, and seemed to like it! Although my arrangements turned out O-K, I think the stems look best when kept long and grouped together without other flowers. What do you think? Next time you see any, grab a few and style them out to see for yourself!
