Get ready to make some BOMB Braised Tofu!! I’ve broken down this delish Dubu Jorim recipe for you with an easy to remember 3-1-1-1-1-1 step process. You’ll need 3 tbsp of soy sauce and just 1 tsp of the rest of the ingredients to make the delicious sauce. 

All the ingredients mix together to create a super flavorful sauce for tofu that will take it to the next level. The red pepper powder adds a delicious, spicy kick!

This is one of my favorite vegan dish ideas because it’s so versatile.

Eat this easy tofu recipe straight from the pan, as a yummy banchan (side dish) with some rice, or over a salad. You can even use some extra sauce as a dressing by adding a splash of rice vinegar to the mix.

Dubu Jorim (Korean Soy Braised Tofu)

This flavorful vegan side dish can also be enjoyed over a bed of greens or in a lettuce wrap for lunch or dinner!

Ingredients

Sauce
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp chopped scallions
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp gochugaru (red pepper powder)
Tofu
  • 1 package or 16 oz of Firm Tofu
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil

Instructions

Prep the Tofu
  1. Cut your tofu into 2" x 2" pieces
  2. Remove any excess moisture by firmly blotting the tofu with paper towels
Make the Sauce
  1. Mix all of your sauce ingredients together in a small bowl
Braise the Tofu
  1. Over high heat, add 2 tbsp of avocado oil to your pan
  2. Place your tofu pieces onto the pan and let cook for 2 mins
  3. Flip your tofu
  4. Lower the heat, and add your sauce mixture to the pan, making sure to coat all of the tofu pieces
  5. Cook for another 2 mins before removing from the pan
Plate, Garnish and Serve
  1. Place your braised tofu pieces onto a plate, layering them slightly on top of each other
  2. Garnish with some toasted sesame seeds, thinly sliced scallions and ENJOY!
